Bead Delite has so many customers who have all fallen in love with Melanie Haun. There is no easy way to give you this news. On Friday morning, October 26th, Melanie was on her way to the shoppe, feeling great and excited about the day. Before she arrived at her beloved bead store, she went into cardiac arrest. She would want you to know that she went quickly and peacefully, and is no longer suffering from the ills of this world, including her own physical maladies.
There usually wasn't a day that you would come in and not find her beading. (Or entering inventory) You would always be greeted with her soulful smile. We are all so fortunate to have had her in our lives, no matter how long or brief the time spent with her was.
A kind journalist from the News and Observer called a few weeks ago and asked if she could do an article on Melanie and the store. She interviewed several of our teachers, customers and friends. Even if names weren't mentioned, the sentiment is the same. Collectively, the words written in the paper... they could have been our own. We all felt the same way about our dear friend Melanie. The article came out last Thursday, and it was written beautifully. We Thank Aleta Stone so much for putting Melanies story into print. Here's the link... and BTW, Kathy's husbands name is Wil... not Wilma! Thaks SpellChecker! LOL

From the N&O:
Melanie Bryan Haun died suddenly on 26 October 2007. She was a beloved wife, mother, teacher, and lately bead store owner. She was born in Henderson to the late Jimmy and Kitty Bryan on February 21, 1942. Memorial Services will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1500 Glenwood Avenue on Tuesday, October 30, at 11:00am. Family will receive friends 2 hours prior to service. Melanie is survived by her husband of forty years, Harold; son Michael and wife Tifanie of Decatur, Ga; and daughter Kathy and husband Wil of Raleigh. She was a long time preschool teacher who recently developed a love for beading. She took her passion for the craft to a new level when she opened her own bead store, Bead Delite, in April 2006. While it was a strain to keep Bead Delite in operation due to health problems, she never gave up. It was in her nature to put other's needs ahead of her own. The family has decided to try to keep her dream alive and request support of Bead Delite, 6514-100 Old Wake Forest Road, in lieu of flowers.
We have a Journal in the Front for all Melanies beading friends to sign and leave a message to the family. We all have so many funny stories from our time with her. I know her family would love for you to share some memories with them.
Please stop by the store and take this opportunity to share your memories, favorite stories, even funny things she did. Boy... her laugh... It was worth a million.
